I have a problem with my computer that just started this morning. Whenever I boot it, it takes me to a screen that says that Windows did not boot successfully and gives me a bunch of options such as Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Command Prompt, and Start Windows Normally. Whenever I try hitting any of the options, the computer restarts and I can never get to the startup screen. This has never happened before, but I'm guessing it might be a virus. How can I fix it if I can't log on?

Please Help!

choose last known good configuration, if that doesnt work, you will need to get the install cd and do a repair install, then reinstall all updates.
this assuming you cant get it to boot into safe mode and use system restore.

This is probably not a virus
Windows probably had a file corrupt
I would advise that you reinstall Windows using the original Windows disk that came with your PC
I think that is the only thing you can do seeinbg that you cant even get into Windows.

A virus would not do this because a virus would need Windows to boot up to start whatever it does

When you reinstall I recommend that you install these 2 programs that will keep you PC protected from the latest threats for free (I use these two programs on all my computers):

Spybot Search & Destroy: http://www.spybot.info/

Ad-Aware Personal SE: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/products/ad-aware_se_personal.php

I hope this helps you,

Start your computer and the enter safe mode,if it does enter in safe mode,go to My computer,right-click on the partition with windows installed, select properties, click on the the tools tab and then click on the "check now..." button, select automatically fix system errors, click on ok,the a window will pop-up asking you if you want to perform the system check when you restart the computer, just click ok and then restart and enter windows properly.

there is a problem with ur boot file, try to research about "recovery console" over the internet. must be something wrong with ur "boot.ini" file. don't worry ur not gonna fix-clean ur computer ur just gonna replace the "boot.ini" file in order to run ur computer again. & one way to do that is by recovery console. u should have ur driver CDs/DVDs that came with the computer
