Firewire is just another method of getting information into your computer through a firewire port,similar to usb1 but faster !!

It's like Mac's Sony connection.
You usually see it with Apple devices. You know like Ipods and junk like that.
You can buy a firewire card for a PC or a USB to firewire connector.

a firewire is basically a USB on steriods. it has a much bigger and faster transfer rate but the only thing is that firewire is only comppatible with certain types of devices so you cant use a firewire with a ipod or another usb device

It's just another USB cable sized to the appliance you want to plug into your modem.Take a digital camera or your cell phone,
look at the size of the cable plug- in port on the device and you will
see that it's probably not the same size as your modem ports.You have to buy the right size wire for you to attach the two together.You can also use a fire wire to connect two appliances together and then to your modem.
