well one day my computer had this big problem with pop ups and my friend knew how to fix it.well that problem was taken care of but knkow i could'nt play certain games (i have a dell)

Well, first of all, use a2 antivirus for worm/spyware files check/delete (freeware) and windows defender from microsoft (freeware) if your win xp is legimate.
2nd .... What is your videocard, tell me the product name ....
3rd, maybe you need to re-install the video driver ..........
4th, what game u r playing. cheers

go to http://www.belarc.dom and download Belarc advisor. it will tell you the video card you have . then go to the manufacturer's website and download the drivers for the card
