I am buiyng new system with Pentium D processor and intel chipset so tell me plz will 80 GB Hard Disk be compatible for 1 GB Ram?

ok, I recently learne a thing or 2 about how dvd region codes work. and it annoys me. I have an Apex Ad-1500 dvd player and would like to learn how to turn it to region 0. As far as i can tell the serial number does not start with sv, since I've been told that may be important.

I plan on buying a Toshiba laptop tomorrow and it has wireless internet built into it. What else will I need to connect to the internet? I plan on taking this laptop w/me to work and using it at home without using the internet service at work or home. Most websites at my work are blocked - reason for laptop :) and my parents have their own computer w/internet access.

I am planning to buy Acer Aspire i read so many good and bad comments I would know abt this particular model
processer centrino duo core duoT2300 (1.66 GHz) , 512 mb DDR2 ram, 120 GB harddisk.
One main reason I am buying Acer is the cost which is relatively less compared to Sony with the same features.

Additional Details

it costs me around 840$
I dont live in U.S, I am buying it outside U.S

I tested it on windows live messenger but it couldnt detect any sound at all. Or do i have to get an external microphone? :(

My USB memory stick is not listed in windows explorer(no drive letter) after I plugged in one of the USP ports.
I did the following.

1-From the Start menu, choose Settings, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, 2-Computer Management.
3-Click the Storage item in the right-hand panel.
4-Click the Disk Management item.
5-Right-click the storage volume that you wish to assign a drive letter to from within the lower right-hand window pane.
6-Click Change Drive Letter and Paths....
7-Use the Add, Change or Remove buttons as appropriate.
8-Click OK to save the settings.

I can only access it in Disk Management place. I cannot access it in windows explorer. still no drive letter in windows explorer.

help please why it is doing it.

I'm planing to go into graphic design and possibly making a mmorpg (maybe) so I'm going to need a mega lot of ram and space and obviously i want other cool specs. The reason I want it to be a lap top is because then i don't need a permant office. So what do you recomend? Someone mentioned Dell but I'm not quite sure. :/ Help...

I have gotten DirectX 9.0c from many differant websites and they all stop when DirectX gives me the error message "DirectX was unable to copy a required file" And it always is at the file d3dramp.dll I have tried to get the file seperately and it still doesn't help. Please could anyone help. Thank you

I reinstalled my Operating System and now I have no sound. I tried downloading the driver for my sound card but I still have no sound. Is there another problem? Windows won't even detect my sound card. I can't adjust the volume or even select hardware for playack or record. These fields won't even allow me to click on them. However, when I go through the troubleshooter it says, "This device is working properly." Please help. . . damsel in distress.

I got a Compaq desktop with a built in video card

Now I am trying to install another video card, Nvidia GeForce 6600 GT, I plugged into the PCI slot and installed the driver for xp, but the screen became half black and half red when I connected the monitor with the new video card.

Then I went to the display property, and it says the current graphic display driver cannot be used since it was written for previous version of Windows. And it asks me to get a updated driver.

1. My computer is running Windows XP Media Certer Edition. Is it right to choose the driver for Windows 2000/XP while installing the driver?

2. Where can I find a update for the driver, is it possible the driver in the disc outdated? I just bought it yesterday! I tried the Nvidia web but cannot find any update for this driver.

3. In the device manager under display adaper, it says the item "Nvidia Geforce 6600" is working well, but why I can use it?

I have a standard PCI slot available.... So I'm trying to decide between a Radeon 9250 or a Geforce FX5500. Both are very similar in price and performance, it seems....at least on paper. Right now I'm using integrated graphics, so anything's a step up. If there's a card I've over-looked, I'm willing to take a gander, although these seem to be my best choices without having PCI-E or AGP. Any ideas would be helpful! Thanks!

I have an emachines with Windows XP and a AMD Athlon 64 3800+ Processor. 1024 Mb RAM. And It keeps turning off.. alot. I thought it had something to do with the electricity in our house. Because if my parents turn on a coffee pot, light, microwave etc my computer will turn off. If nearly every single thing is off, it will work for hours. Also any other thing I plug in the same plugs (we have tried many around the house) they all work fine. TV's, Radio's etc all work perfect. So I am trying to determine is it the computer, is there a setting I can change, or is it most likely the electricity/breakers?

my laptop got stolen today. i have been using that toshiba for 2 years and i have and hp pavilion also. i have sent an e-mail to a special department to toshiba with all the information about the laptop. i did not get any reply yet but only a confirmation that the email has been received.

i talked with an online tech and he told me that they can get it from the user's IP add if he provides the serial number.

is there any other way???

My motherboard got struck by lightning and I send it to intel center got done. it took me two months to recieve back, afgter i got it i couldn't shutdown. every time i shutdown it restarting again and i have to hold the shutdown button to turn it off. i already formatted it twice but the problem its still there. Any ideas?
