I reinstalled my Operating System and now I have no sound. I tried downloading the driver for my sound card but I still have no sound. Is there another problem? Windows won't even detect my sound card. I can't adjust the volume or even select hardware for playack or record. These fields won't even allow me to click on them. However, when I go through the troubleshooter it says, "This device is working properly." Please help. . . damsel in distress.

The most likely culprit here is the sound card drivers - sometimes on reinstall just the basic sound drivers are loaded which doesnt do much good. Look up your computers configuration and identify the manufacturer of the sound card that came with your system. EIther go to the computer manufacturers website or in certain cases the sound card manufacturer's website and download updated sound card drivers for your operating system. Do a complete system shutdown and restart for the drivers to take effect after install.

Hope this helps..

Tom

It is advisable if give sound driver name.

Uninstall yellow tag / Multimedia driver from My computer-properties-hardware-device manager
Install proper driver via Action-scan for hardware change.

Note- If driver is correct then check volume mute/media player
If you are not sure about driver go to proper website and check.

i'm pretty sure it is a sound driver issue. try going to the website of the manufacturer that makes your pc and look for support and drivers. or just look to be sure you installed the right driver. the troubleshooter is a liar. uninstall your driver and reinstall.

You have no doubt reloaded a Windows operating system, and that was the big mistake. Delete it and install Kubuntu instead, and quit sending more money to Bill Gates. www.kubuntu.org
