My friend came over to use my computer, he has a MAC. When I told him to push the button on the hard drive (proper term is the tower) he acted really confused. Do MAC's not have towers? Do they not have hard drives?

How do I stop ATI Catalyst Control Center Notification popping up every time I enter Windows XP? Ok I just bought ATI X1950XT 256mb video card and when I installed drivers from cd this didnt show up but after intalling latest catalyst 6.12 from ATI website this thing keeps showing everytime I boot windows and I have to wait till it dissappears for like 2 minutes.It says ATI SmartGart is looking through your computer to optimize the graphics or something like that is there any way to disable it?Its really annoying.

I decided to try out windows and leave my Mac behind for a while, so i bought a new one just now (Sony Vaio Windows Xp Home Edition) and to my suprise it doesn't have the basic "paint" programm!!!! :( where can i download this program free of charge, wasn't it suppose to come with it?? thanks to all!

I have my laptop setup as wireless (using a Netgear dongle) and my wife's laptop runs of the same wireless router (Netgear) using internal hardwear.

All of this seems a bit pointless because if we want to send stuff down to the printer we have to get the USB cable out.

Is there an inexpensive way to talk to the printer "wirelessly"?

Has anyone else had problems installing a wireless router on a Dell notebook? The instructions make it look like childsplay. After talking with a call center person from India for 1 hour on Christmas evening, she finally solved the problem, but all the network settings had to be reconfigured and renamed. Does everyone who purchases a Cisco router go through this?

ok i have a dell inspiron 2200 laptop, with a 15 pin VGA output.

well i want to connect it to my tv which has a HDMI input. In my manual for my tv it says,

"the HDMI cable running from the TV should be connected to the DVI output of the PC. Use DVI to HDMI adapter to do the connection"

so im lost about how to connect them together.

do i need a VGA to DVI adapter (to plug in my laptop) then a DVI to HDMI cable to plug in the TV. im guessing this is right???

I'm tired of the crap I get from windows and PCs. I'm starting to consider getting a nice mac. What do I need to know and how is a mac better? I also heard that you can run windows on a mac if needed. How would this work and would it kill performance?

When i turn on my computer to install the installion disc it says:

I did not use a new cord or slave drive cord.. what ever its called
Could it be a bad cord?

I am trying to get an old PC up from the dead. I got it to boot in Win98. It has the old keyboard plug (about 5/8" diameter) but no mouse. I have a small plugged mouse, just a little bigger than a quarter inch and an adaptor to serial. Does it go into the serial plug of the serial/parallel card? I have it their but it doesn't want to see it?!

I just burned a CD yesterday using Windows Media Player (Windows XP), now I'm trying to burn a CD and the songs have "Ready To Burn" beside them, however when I click "Start Burn", it starts, then immediatley stops and doesn't burn anything. Is there something configured incorrectly? I know the problem does not lie in my PC... What needs to be done? Thanks for your help. :-)

I am trying to set up a new desktop and a new laptop to net gear. The laptop should connect wirelessly and the desktop should connect using an adapter but I'm having the hardest time actually CONNECTING them. Could someone help me and maybe give me step by step instructions please??

I have a Compaq 900 laptop that I've had for several years. Yesterday I replaced the old battery with a new one and it worked great. I let the battery go all the way down to 0% before I charged it again and last night I was running on battery power again until 0%. Then, I plugged the AC plug back in to charge the battery. I sat like that, assuming it was charging for about an hour, then it said it was 100%...so I unplugged it.

The PC immediately died. I tried recharging the battery but all it says is 100%, but I unplug it and the PC dies, every time.

This is a BRAND NEW battery. Does anyone have any help for me?

I have a computer which has a Pentium 4 processor (2.9Ghz) and 512Mb of RAM.

I bought my computer a couple of months ago and when it starts up its really slow. I don't have many programs on it and I've already swept it for Adware.

I also have a laptop with lower specifications but it runs quicker.

What could be causing this?
