the screen "shivers" if you will... and when it comes on, it makes a weird noise until the screen is completely lightened. when i turn it off, i see diagonal lines coming towards the center for a brief moment.

I am planning on getting a TV tuner for my Windows computer (at least something I can connect a VCR up to, but can also record live TV), and there's an external one available at Staples/Business Depot, but it says it requires an antenna or analogue cable source. I have neither (I have a digital set-top box). Can I still use a tuner card, or do I need to get analogue cable or an antenna?

My computer is giving me an error when it starts up. It says there is an error with the hard driver, please consult your troubleshooting guide. Then it says to press enter to continue. I don't have the troubleshooting guide anymore and I don't know what to do. It's been fine for a while even though that error has been coming up, but now it has been shutting off when it's not in use for a while sometimes and it freezes up when it goes on standby. It's a gateway computer with windows XP. If anyone has any ideas on what I should/could do, please let me know. Thanks.

My computer was originally my sister's and being the pack rat she is (sarchasm sarchasm) she threw away all but the Winodws XP installation CD when she bought my computer several years ago. I know I could problably order the CD's online, but I don't like to give out my credit card number and I NEED to resore the computer to factory settings and have it in proper working order before the new semester (CD shipping would take much too long). Any suggestions, or should I just live with this patheitc peice of junk for yet another semester?

I searched, but most of the questions\answers were from a few months ago. Looking for a gaming laptop up to $1,500. Would rather be closer to $1,000. Any suggestions, or tips on what to look for? Such as, graphic card wise. Thanks for any help.

I was installing a wireless keyboard and mouse. It needed to restart to finish the installation. so it shut down. When it powered back up all i get is a white screen. I hear the welcome sound but it stays at this white screen. I can't put any startup disk in it because the install disc is in it and wont eject.

I have a :

- Kingston KVR : KVR400X64C3A/512 2.6V
- Infineon Azenram DDR0330 HYB25D256800BT-5 C2

Both are 512 MB and PC3200 and 184 pins.

Are they "mixable" ?

Someone told me it could mess up my motherboard but i used them for about 1 year now.

Why would they be incompatible ? They are both DDR400 and PC3200. Is this a question of CAS latency ?

In my motherboard manual, it says :
In dual-channel configuration, always install and identical (same type and size) DDR DIMM pair on sockets of the same color.
Always install DIMMs with the same CAS latency.
For optimum compatibility, it is recommended that you obtain memory modules from the same vendor.

What should I do, throw my second 512 Mb to the trash ?

Can i put 1 in one socket (blue) and the other one in the other (black) ?

Thank you very much for your anwers.
