How do I install memory on a Compaq Presario R3000 Laptop?

There is usually a small latch/opening on the bottom of the laptop (may need a screwdriver) that you can remove to install more RAM.

Note that you will need to purchase special/specific RAM for a laptop, and is probably best ordered from Compaq online as they can match your laptop model to the specific type/speed of RAM that you need -- unless you're a technie and already know how to find that out yourself..

As "Liquid" said, under the laptop you will usually find a small latch with a screw that you open to get at the memory.

Make sure that your laptop is turned OFF before you try to remove or open the memory latch. Read the manual for your laptop to make sure the size of memory you want to buy is supported in that unit. Some have a limit to how much it will support.

My laptop only has room for one card, so you have to remove the old memory and insert a new one...you cannot add to the memory like in many desktop PCs, only replace it.

You can also probably find memory for your Compaq laptop from Kingston Memory.
