I don't know about cheap but I just sold a Pentium II Dell laptop that I used easily with Bellsouth DSL so I imagine any DSL or Cable Internet should work. Yahoo offers DSL for example. Try searching Yahoo for .

Good Luck!

Linksys is a company that makes wireless networking equipment. This does not provide internet service directly. It only makes your existing internet connection wireless. A wireless network card will permit you to use the internet for free at Starbucks or at an airport or any building that provides access for its patrons.

Essentially if you want internet service that is cheap, dialup is about the only way to go. Anything else will probably cost you upwards of $30 a month or more.

Really old does not give any info. does it have an ethernet card (either built in or pcmcia), what OS does it have, how much ram, what is available in your area? You can do a decent job with a 400 mhz laptop using a pcmcia card connected to broadband with Win2k and 128M ram (is that old enough)?
