Hardware - June 2006

Ok, so I'm buying a tablet PC very soon. I'm hesitating between two tablets, a Gateway and a Toshiba. The Gateway can be seen in the link below:

The Toshiba one is not available online but here are the main differences between both:

- Toshiba has 512 MB RAM, Gateway has 1 GB.
- Gateway is Vista enabled, Toshiba is not.
- Toshiba costs 1800 $CDN, Gateway costs 1500$ CDN
- And obviously, the brand.

I never used Gateway before. Toshiba is known to me to be extremely reliable... but Gateway seems to be like a better deal... I am so confused, HELP!!!

usb 2.0
hdd
i dont mind taking it to a place where they do it for me
and dont care if the dvd burner is external same with some others.
but 200 dollars budget...thanks

I just got an old windows 98 compaq and its only a 1.18gig hard drive and the ram is 16 mb i think and I was going to put a new 40 gig hard drive in and install win.xp would the low ram effect this?

The VIA PT880 Pro/Ultra Chipset is used by Asrock on their motherboard 775Dual-VSTA

This motherboard is very similar to the older model 775Dual-880Pro

Looking thru the manuals I can’t seem to find any differences or benefits attributed to the VIA PT880 Pro/Ultra Chipset compared to the VIA PT880 Pro Chipset?

I was hoping that it would provide a PCI Express Graphics slot (x16) instead of (x4) like the older board.

Any information on this chipset or pci express slots would be welcomed?

just two questions which have been puzzleing me for a while
1)when you boot up and see the dos message "ntldr is missing",what does the ntldr mean,ive asked in computer shops and they dont even know.
2)after you have installed service pack 2 ,why does the "home" and "proffesinal"dissapear from the boot up screen,is there a reason for this?
