If I do should I install in the cd rom slot, or the cd rw slot?
What's the best options?

No it is not difficult to install a DVD Writer on your own.Its simple plugging the IDE cable (the broad gray coloured cable) and a power cable.. thats it! :)
About your slot question, if i understood correctly, you mean to replace either CD writer or CD rom? If i had to do it, i would put it in my CD rom slot so that I have one for writing CDs, one for DVDs and ofcourse both can read CDs (thus makin plain CDROM redundant).

1) its very easy to install just follow the small manual u get with it
2) doesnt matter
3) same as above.
it will take about 10 mins to install.

Sony's DVD writer's installation instructions make it very easy.

just plug it and the windows xp will install it on his own and u ll have nothing to do

connect it ot either one. simple plug it in, your computer will automatically detect it
