I want an external hard drive to back up my music, photos, and documents. What kinds of things should I look for?

I'm not super techie so I'd love something that I can just plug in with a USB or something, then transfer over a few folders.

Are there any brands that are especially good?

Is this possible? Are any kinds of software needed? All data includes all system utilities and files and operating system. Reason being i was thinking of purchasing a new high-performance hard drive to replace my current one.

When I put a larger number in the maximum size box I get an error notification saying,( it needs to be in a paging file size.I admit I just make up a number, but what else can I do. Oh ,by the way, I just installed a new 80 gb HD and a modem.

I have a minidisc, and wish to extract the files stored on it. However, the only drive I have to work with is a CD drive.

Can it read the minidisc, or do I need another kind of drive?

And if it can read it, is there any particular method of reading the information I need to know about?

I have an IBM thinkpad a22m notebook. I have determined that one of the slots that hold a memory chip is bad. I have checked the IBM site and they offer no help on this. I want to know how I can order a new slot and how to install it on my computer.

i've managed to finally get videos downloaded from limewire onto my ipod by clicking 'advanced' and then 'convert selection for ipod' in the itunes software.
but now i can't get any sound from the video, appartly because the video file is a 'MPEG1 Muxed' format.
is there anyway to either 1) somehow get ipod to play 'MPEG1 Muxed' format (through some special technique!!) 2) or to download a different format from limewire that works properly with ipod?
