Dell computers are good if you have a lot of money and can afford to buy a new one every 3 years. If you want a computer that will last, don't buy a Dell.

Dell computers are fine. You can customize them, plus they come with 24hr customer support. Alienwares are good too, and they are owned by Dell Inc. If your a Microsoft person, Mac OS wouldn't be very good for you. Windows is fine, you just need to learn how not to mess your computer up with viruses.

DONT BUY ONE THAT YOU SEE ON TV. THOSE ARE THE CRUMMY ONES! CUSTOMIZE ONLINE!

NO never buy a Dell!!! I have owned two in the past 3 years (desktops) and these pieces of crap are so slow and ancient. Plus, they freeze easily and don't agree with a lot of software I try to install.

My friend's family is almost "obsessed" with dell, but there are hard drives, ram, optical drives, and much more laying around and he says that there is a backup drive for each one because they're constantly crashing (not because of using too many system resources, but crap computer)

If you need a basic computer then, yes it's good. Going on the internet, word documents, playing music, etc.

If you're going to do advanced stuff such as gaming, photo/video editing, etc...you're better off getting someone to build one for you or buy an advanced one somewhere.

They're pretty solid computers. Not spectacular, and a bit overpriced for the home imho. However, they're pretty reasonable for an office environment (where TCO is more important than initial price).

I have had mine for about 4 years and its working fine.
I have not had to many problems that were not my fault.
I just got a nice hard drive and basic operatiing system and then did what I want to it.
It plays games fine and does well with my music programs.

They are cheap, but not upgradable. better to get a computer with standard components it will cost more but will be less headaches
