I have an IBM thinkpad a22m notebook. I have determined that one of the slots that hold a memory chip is bad. I have checked the IBM site and they offer no help on this. I want to know how I can order a new slot and how to install it on my computer.

Well actually technically speaking yes you can fix the problem. IBM wont sell you the part but you can get the exact same part from old used IBM laptop boards. What you then need to do is remove the old piece with a welder and flux and put the new piece and souter it into place. That might solve your problem. If the problem is in one of the buses leading from this memory chip base to the processor then no matter which part you will put in it will still not work.
