CMOS- complementary metal oxide semiconductor is the thing or the metal oxide which acts as a semiconductor makes up every chip in the world....and so commonly the motherboard settings or the BIOS settings are referred to as the cmos settings....if u are getting that message it means that the cmos settings are being reset every time u switch off the computer or the information within is being lost ....which mostly happens coz the battery runs out....and there is no power supply to sustain the volatile information....try replacing the battery or chk if it is placed properly....if this does not solve ur problem then u can easily get ur MB replaced if it's still in the warranty period which probably is 2 years...

If you haven't reset the cmos settings then your Cmos battery has most likely died.
Cmos settings are stored in the Bios. The battery keeps the settings stored in the bios when the pc is off. if the battery dies then the settings are erased. when you put the computer on it checks the settings and it's sees that they are not set, so it then tells you the values are wrong and then it loads the default settings.
the best you can do is live with the message or take it to a pc store and have them replace the battery. if you want to try and replace it yourself, open the case and look fora round silver item, which will most likely say 3.3V on it, remove it and take it to a computer shop or watch shop for a replacement. After that re-install it go into your bios and sett the settings according to your hardware. If you know to little to do that just take the pc to a shop and have it fixed.

CMOS is a chip on the motherborad (the board with a lot of chips) in your computer, that stores essential informations like assessories informations, date time etc. It retains its information using power from a battery on the motherboard
if you get a CMOS error, it is very likely that the battery is weak.

If your system time is going wrong or slow then you can suspect batteary or test it once by manually. While booting press del and enter in to Bios and select default settings and configure once. If you find same like settings wrong then go to change of batteary of 3.3v. This will help you with out fail.
