go to the device manager and see if the sound card is there if it is remove it and click add new hardware and setit up again if the problems insiste install it again on the board .
go to the safe mode and remoe all the cards (i know it so hard operations but it is good )
and go back to windows and search for new hardware in win98
and set up the sound card again ( be sure the software in the CD is the sound card's software)
if the probelems insists and the sound card is found in device manger and no sigen on it (!,?) these mean that u need to replace it .

First try reinstalling the driver. Right-click My Computer, then go to properties. Under the hardware tab go to device manager. Click on the sound card (audio) and "reinstall driver". If that fails, buy a new card.

Check your settings, check your volume controls, check if there are any conflicts with any other hardware. Check the connections to the speakers- the speakers may be going bad instead of the card. Pull out the card, and re-seat it- check connections to the card. See if you're computer is set to use an integrated sound card instead of your sound card.

what exactly is the problem....ok chk in the device manager if its getting it's share of resource allocated...if not..then try plugging it in another pci slot..that should solve the problem...if still not working then chk in the bios if ur motherboard has an inbuilt sound card....if yes then disable it..from the bios...if there is a driver problem then simply reinstall it...if nothing works ...buy a new one :)

the first thing that you should do is check to see if the settings that you selected are supported by you processer then you might want to consider buying a new one they are VERY VERY easy to install dont let them tell you any diffrent

I would check your volume controls, your card settings, and if all else fails, you can get new ones on www.ebay.com for cheap.. thats where I got mine, and it's awesome!
