I love music and I like to have as many songs available at all times, but my laptop can only hold so many. I need a good external hard drive. And how important is back up software? I don't want to lose my music, so I need a good recommendation. Can you help me out?

With external hard drives, you have two choices: an actual external hard drive (expensive) or an internal hard drive in a USB enclosure (much cheaper). I go with the latter myself. As for reviews of the best ones, check out www.newegg.com and go to their External Hard Drives section. (They have some of the best prices as well.)

As for backing up your music files, Microsoft Backup (that comes with Windows) is cheap and easy and does the job just as well if not better than most commercial software. You can access it by going to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Backup.
