Ok, so I'm buying a tablet PC very soon. I'm hesitating between two tablets, a Gateway and a Toshiba. The Gateway can be seen in the link below:

http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0926INGFS10073422&catid=20356&PCName=

The Toshiba one is not available online but here are the main differences between both:

- Toshiba has 512 MB RAM, Gateway has 1 GB.
- Gateway is Vista enabled, Toshiba is not.
- Toshiba costs 1800 $CDN, Gateway costs 1500$ CDN
- And obviously, the brand.

I never used Gateway before. Toshiba is known to me to be extremely reliable... but Gateway seems to be like a better deal... I am so confused, HELP!!!

Well, in capability, the gateway you are comparing is better than the toshiba one; but, I suggest you to check about the Gateway's service and warranty. If you have the same service and warranty, don't worry about that Toshiba is a more reliable brand, what you need is a good tablet PC, capable to help you doing your work, and if Gateway is offering a good time and conditions for warranty (parts and service), I think Gateway is the best deal in this case; otherwise, if Gateway is not offering a good warranty, that includes parts and service, I suggest you to buy the Toshiba one, because you know that brand, and everybody do so, even if you are paying more. The warranty is one of the more important facts that you have to keep in mind when buying a PC.

Hope this helps. Best Regards.

I have the Toshiba and love it. I would not go back. I am using the Toshiba Tecra M4 tablet hybrid and I would not go back its a little heavy but it works GREAT. Look at the weight if you plan to carry it around and working on it but if you are using it for school you mgiht want to get another battery it last about 2hr 30 min. Thats what I would have to suggest. Vista in my opinion is not going to be the next best thing so I would not worry about that. Make sure you get the full warrenty.

The gateway appears like it might be able to run applications better with one gig of ram. Vista enabled isnt really important, but it could be good.
