simple answer YES, I have a set up like that at home, a wireless keyboard (usb) next to my living room table, and a fixed one behind the wall unit in case the batteries go dead, they both work at the same time.

We have had some success with this, in the School i work. The teacher has a fixed (wired) keyboard and mouse, at their Whiteboard machine, but also has a combined wireless keyboard and trackball that they use when at other end of the room.
We used a splitter to combine the wired keyboard (Ps2), and the wireless keyboard & trackball (Ps2) so both plugged into the same port (keyboard). The trackball (wireless) part plugged into the Ps2 mouse port. Then a standard usb mouse was plugged in to the computer.
When the splitter detected the keyboard being used form either source, it types to the screen. The mouse just seems to sort out which one is being used itself.

Yes it will work.
If you hook up a fixed keyboard on a laptop, the keys on both the fixed keyboard and the one on the laptop can be used together. Its the same with the wireless one.
The new computers will allow it. The old computers might have trouble recognizing both.
