because only one company makes them. They can drive up the price to whatever they want!
But, for a computer that actually works without having to tinker with it -- i'd pay a little extra. Windows sucks.
It also takes a higher degree of sensibility to appreciate the difference between mac and windows.

Your reply to, "they are not that good...especially since it's not as easy to find software etc." Was, "they (Apple-macs) run Windows too!". Your previous comment before that was, "you are all just Gates lovers!". Well, if we are all just Gates lovers, what does this make you?? As far as I recall Bill Gates was one of the original 11 people who formed MICROSOFT! Microsoft, makes Windows operating systems and other software. Bill Gates didn't invent the P.C.! He and 10 others invented Microsoft. Apple had more to do with inventing the P.C.than Bill Gates did! Pretty soon Apple will just be an expensive, Intel based, Windows Vista running P.C.anyway!

Apple do not ought to compete with different sort names on their operating platforms with a view to price what they prefer. HP, Dell, Gateway, Toshiba, Acer etc all compete adverse to at least one yet another and performance to save their costs low. Apple have an 'photo' yet they don't look to be the perfect looking, maximum reliable, virus free, least confusing to apply or the 'perfect' of something really. purchase an Apple if you're surely swayed through commercials, have extra money than sense, favor to look 'cool' or have had 3 fingers amputated. (nicely - per chance no longer the perfect one because you should use a abode windows or Linux laptop with only one finger and Apple have produced a multi-contact mouse now that's easily one in all the perfect at this second)

One of the selling features for a mac is that the average use of the machine is 6 to 8 years. As oppose to a PC with a life span of three years.

Because they actually work. They don't crash nearly as often as PCs... and in the design world, the programs and processing capabilities of Macs are far superior to anything a PC can offer.
The last thing you want is a computer that is going to stall or crash while you are in the middle of a design project.
And don't get me wrong... I was raised on a PC. And then at school I had the chance to use both. My experience with the Mac was much better.

The simple truth is that the Mac is a much more elegant machine, much more intuitive to use, vastly superior to Wintel machines for digital darkroom applications, and have been targeted at people with more disposable income from the start.

Because only one company makes them.
And they are so much more reliable they can get that much for them.
Your Mac can now run windows software. My recomendation: next time you need a computer buy a Mac.
