Because if u think about it, if they don't... then they're pretty much "dead in the water". And just, like.... out of the market almost.

My friends laptop browses the internet, and plays videos fast at my house through a wireless connection. When he gets home, videos and load times slow to a crawl. His desktop computer at his house is the same way. We think it is a wireless network problem. Any suggestions?

If a site can track you by your IP does your IP always stay the same? Is there a way to change it? If you are on a laptop on a wireless connection is your IP different depending on where you are linking up? Does it vary by WI-FI network? If I am at home would my IP change if I went through another link than I usually connect through?

Can any suggest which IT certification is the wisest to pursuit first? I was thinking of investing time and money to obtain a MCSE 2003 but not sure if that is the wisest, now that Microsoft will release a new server OS in the 2008. I have been doing network engineers and IT support for the last 9 years.

Thank,

Im redoing my home network. Currently I use a Linksys wifi router.

I now Have a server and the router I have doesnt have a built in swith soo the data from pc a to the server actually gets sent threw the enternet at 500kbs speed which takes years for a gig file.

So what I was think was Incorperation a Switch in my room only since I have.
2 Computer/ File Server/ Xbox 360 that I use with Media Center/Ps3.

The swith I want to buy is http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Product_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1115416906263&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper&lid=0626367879B18

Now here are my questions.

1. Do I hook up my five things to the swith than have a cord from the router hook up to the swith.

2. Where on this switch would I plug the router cable into.

Heres a pic of what I want to do.

i have a wireless data card, which i want to share with my neighbours. i tried setting up a router-free connection. Ad-hoc connection works, we all have different ip addresses, connection which i use for internet is also shared. i tried it with and without using http proxy (192.168.1.2 port 80). then system indicates on other computers, that only connection to LAN exists, while I have internet available.

what should i do? please help.

I have a wireless Di-624 router and an Alcatel Speedtouch 510 ADSL router. I cannot get DHCP working for wireless and Internet neither. Where should i connect the cable coming from the alcatel, in the WAN port or ethernet 1, on the wireless?

How to also get DHCP. When i activate DHCP on wireless, i get a bad DNS, not the one from ISP.

if a attack port scanned your computer and found open ungaurded ports.. can this attacker see/download/hack files in your computer?

Just curious because i remember reading it was impossible to take controll of someones computer with JUSt an ip... id understand if they had a trojan or something but not just by ip.

So what happens if the attacker finds an open port?
