I'm quite confused between transmission medium and channel. Baseband transmission requires low-pass channel... and what are examples of a low-pass channel? Can coaxial cable be used as a low-pass channel?

Need some help. tks!

Hi. I think you really mean filtering. A piece of wire can transmit a wide range of frequencies but maybe you do not want 60 cycle (hum) frequencies to pass through. A high pass filter will block them. DSL uses high and low pass frequencies, voice on the low and data on the high.

Since low pass starts from 0 it really refers to noise hence the reason we have low pass FILTERS. Band pass is usually what I have heard and yes cable does have the ability to provide main and side bands. This is done through modulation. That's a brief summary I would suggest taking a read on this book. Data Communications and Networking By Behrouz A. Forouzan. It covers quite a bit in excruciating detail ; )
