We are doing an upgrade in our office from 10 and 10/100 hubs to switches. I was told to look at getting two switches for load
balancing. Here is my question. Why two? Wouldn't I be better off
buying one 16 port switch instead of two 8 port switches?

i want to , from my PC (connected to the internet) remotely access to my subordinate's PC, which is not allowed to connect to the internet.
I have to let my subordinate's PC connect to the main router via the broadband cable, and of course mine is connected to it. What are software to remotely access if both of the PCs are not connected to the internet? What are the software used to remotely access both of the PC, if they are both connected to the internet. clicking window key + r and then //IP address only see files in the popped up window. But i want to access to it as simultaneously seeing what the other person is watching on the other PC.

Anyone know of a tool/app to remotely check on the connection speed/strength of the Windows XP 802.11 connection (One that is managed by wireless zero, not the card vendor specific app)

Ok I am going to start this with my setup. I have 2 desktop computers, one which is hardwired to the modem, the other which is wireless. I also have a laptop. The router is 2 rooms away. 2 days ago on my wireless computer the internet stopped working. Since then I have updated the drivers, replaced the video card, ran a virus check, called linksys, netgear, and went to geek squad (where they ran a wireless test and it connected to their network just fine). I have also bought a new router which works just fine as well.

When I went home I took my laptop into my room with the wireless desktop and was able to connect to the wireless. This was working just fine 2 days ago, so please help me in figuring out why it isn't working now :(. So far I have deduced that it isn't the routers fault, or the network cards fault, so needless to say I am stumped....please help :(

Also, the day it stopped working I also installed a new replacement monitor...but I cant see why this would be the cause...

All computers in my office are part of a wired network and share a printer. These are handled by the Routefinder Soho VPN Gateway that goes to the Netgear Wireless Router and then internet.

I have purchased a laptop that I have connected to the wireless internet no problem but want to access the printer and/or computers on the network.

Is this possible, and if so, how???

I'm a bit of a novice so "laymens terms" appreciated!!!

1. require no device configuration
2. provide routers with up-to-date routing tables
3. require less processing power than static routes require
4. consume bandwidth to exchange route information
5. prevent manual configuration and maintenance of the routing table
