Well, my dad is having issues establishing an internet connection via wireless. I told him I'll take care of it since i'm the "tech" guy of the house. I'm also the one who set up the entire network. I checked it out, his p.c. is picking up the his new wireless. I can locate the network, it received the password to access the network just fine. My problem is his p.c. "attempts" to receive an IP address from the router, and it "continues" to try and receive an IP address. It just stops there. It actually kept trying for about 1 1/2 hours when I finally just disabled it and told him just "let it go" until I figure out what's going on. It's just "spinning it's wheels" I checked his p.c. activity and it's just idle. I set his preferences to auto-receive the IP address and it still won't work. I double checked my network, and everythings fine. If you need more detail in a certain area just ask & I'll be happy to fill you in. Any & all help will be appreciated. Thx! ^_^

Where is the best place to put my wireless router in my house?
I heard in a video to put it as high as possible because the waves fall down, giving better signal. Is this true?

wireless router. I tried plugging ethernet from the router to the computer but the computer just says "limited or no connectivity" . I also tried using a Wireless G USB from Linksys and it still wouldn't connect to my wireless router. Then finally, I just tried using only my DSL modem and connected the ethernet to my computer and it still wouldn't work. I tried all the above on my friends computer and the everything worked! Anyone know how I can fix this? I use a desktop Windows XP. Thanks.

I have a cable modem that Comcast says will only accept one output connection. My old desktop (allready set up) has only a USB connection to connect to the modem. When I hook up the router (Linksys N) and keep my desktop connection my connections completely stops working. Without spending too much $$, how can I hook up my new laptop via the Draft N wireless way and keep my desktop also hooked up to the internet. Is there a router or another device that will allow both hook ups? remember cheap...what about adding an ethernet port to my Window ME 7 yr old Dell?

How does this work?
Do you have to connect the wi-fi box to anything?

Tele-care uses network technology can relay various kinds of signal of the patient to doctor or medical personnel without the limitation of time and space. Therefore it may lighten medical personnel's burden and can look after the patient all the time. This project plans to setup a tele-care system used for indoor and outdoor occasions. Tumbling signal and physiological signal of the patient can be transmitted by active RFID label on the medical measuring device and received by active RFID reader which can relay the signal to the control center via network. When the medical personnel find the abnormal signal then he can converse and confirm the condition with the patient. PDA receive the tumbling signal and physiological signal from active RFID or blue tooth then reach the control center via GSM/GPRS. The collected data combined with patients background information will be analyzed to learn more about tele-care, then the patient can be more effectively taken care.

When attempting to connect Do I simply put my home IP(in the remote desktop connection box) or do I need to follow it with something else to Identify which PC I want to connect
IP
