wireless router. I tried plugging ethernet from the router to the computer but the computer just says "limited or no connectivity" . I also tried using a Wireless G USB from Linksys and it still wouldn't connect to my wireless router. Then finally, I just tried using only my DSL modem and connected the ethernet to my computer and it still wouldn't work. I tried all the above on my friends computer and the everything worked! Anyone know how I can fix this? I use a desktop Windows XP. Thanks.

Usually "limited or no connectivity" confirms that you have a physical connection but not an ip address. Check that your router is set for DHCP, to hand out ip addresses to attached devices. The router manual will tell you how to do this. You may need to set your computer to a static ip address to be able to connect to the router in order to set it up. Most routers come with an ip of 192.168.0.1 and a mask of 255.255.255.0. On your PC in Start Menu>Connect To>Show all Connections right click on Local Area Connection>properties and go into Internet Protocol properties. Select 'Use the following IP address' and set the address to 192.168.0.2 the mask to 255.255.255.0 and the gateway to 192.168.0.1. You should then be able to connect to the router. If the router address is as I have assumed then you could leave it like this and connect to the internet.
Hope that solves your problem.

Call your internet provider. Your modem may have to be reset by them. Also try resetting it yourself. First the wireless router, then when that is reset, plug in your modem.

Hope this helps

It sounds like your computer is not being assigned an IP address. You either need to enable the DHCP server in your router (http://192.168.1.1) or statically assign an IP to your computer.
