if you are using an unsecured network that means anybody can just use your wireless signal to access the internet but they can't access any of your information....only your internet access.

For the best security you should use encryption, on a wireless connection think of the radios police have, anyone can go out and buy a police scanner and hone in on that frequency and log every thing they say, same with this. I recall I computer tec that was able to drive down the street and pick up on evey unsecured wireless computer connection, the scarry part was that it was washington dc and most people worked for the gov.

If your wireless internet connection is not secure, then any computer that can see the signal can connect through it. If you have a net work set up, then they would be able to see any data that you have shared to the network.

The information that you require to encrypt your WIFI signal is located in the manual that came with the router. If you don't have the manual, you can download it from the router manufacturers web site.
