What is the going rate for a very well-rounded IT Consultant in California (Orange Co.) area?

I'd like to know if there is an average hourly rate for a well-rounded IT consultant, I don't want to seem ask too much, but I don't want to charge to little either.

about $40 an hour I would say.

If your working on your own and not through an agency you need to charge 80-150 an hour depending on the job. This would be a typical billing rate if they hired someone commercially.
