I want to be able to access my home PC from another IP(not on same network)
On my home network I have several PC`s

I have basic knowledge in routing. Which ports must I foward?

When attempting to connect Do I simply put my home IP(in the remote desktop connection box) or do I need to follow it with something else to Identify which PC I want to connect
IP
xx.xxx.xxx.xxx
xx.xxx.xxx.xxx:33333(Port example)
xx.xxx.xxx.xxx:192.168.x.x(my network IP)

Or none of the above lol

My PC is set to allow connections

thanks

Probably the easiest way would be to use Logmein free. I have been using it for a few years and I can access my PC from anywhere. Also great for providing Tech Support.

The machine with the remoted deskto server running on it is listening on a specific port. 5900 or 5901 tcp with certain VNC servers. Usually you just need to put in the external IP address, colon, that port.

For example: vncviewer 204.128.6.2:5901

This tells the client to connect to 204.128.6.2. The router then forwards the traffic to whatever machine is listening on 5901 tcp behind the router. So if you have multiple RDP servers running, they need to obviously be listening on different ports or you're going to get conflicts. The only other thing you need to pass are optional (i.e. compression, video quality, etc.) You do NOT have to put a machine in the DMZ of your network.

You have to use the IP of the router/modem in order to remotely connect and then use the port of the application your using, RDP, PCanywhere, Radmin, ect. You have to have the PC your connecting to in the DMZ for this to work.

One aspect to consider is SECURITY: the most secure way to do this is through a VPN server. Try 'HAMACHI'; a zero configuration, free service. the only thing is your home system must be always on and connected to the Hamachi server (if you want to access remotley)

Connect to the IP assigned by the router,
for example if you have two machines;
http://192.168.1.100 and http://192.168.1.101
You can use the 100 machine to connect to the 101 machine.
