You can have a wired router with a wired connection to a wireless access point and this is done when the router location is unfavorable for a wireless transmission.
However, the basic answer is no, at least not legally.

Many people are using their neighbor's or a close business wifi, so the answer technically is no. Don't do this though.

well it depends on your modem.....i have a DSL connection and the modem that they gave me and it already is wireless router it self already so it would depend on what kind of connection u have.
