Hi! We've had digital cable for a while and have decided to upgrade to RoadRunner internet. I'm going to self-install it but I need to know where the router will get plugged into.

On the back of the digital cable box, there's a port that says "DATA" but it's not for a CAT5. There's also a Time Warner box on the side of our house where the cable lines connect to. Will I need to run a cable from the cable box or the one on the side of my house?

I'm running it all the way upstairs, so, to be honest, I'm hoping it can be run from the side of the house. The tech has a plastic ring (flimsy) holding it shut though, so I don't know if it's anything we're allowed to touch.

Thanks!

Got a 2Wire and the main computer works fine. The Problem is the wireless computer. I had to rebote my computer to factory setting to low memory problems and the internet worked before that. Now when I try to conect to the internet it says "little or no connectivity". I did a test and my IP adress wont renew. And ipconfig/release dousen't work. Can anyone help?

I have a home network using an SMC Wireless Router. Currently I have two computers that connect to it. I want to make the network Secure so that no one else can connect unless they have a password.

My question is... when I log into the Router using the 168.192... web address... Do I want to password protect it (Set a password to restrict management access to the Wireless Barricade) or Encrypt it (The Wireless Barricade can be quickly configured as a wireless access point for roaming clients by setting the access identifier and channel number. It also supports data encryption and client filtering).

Both require different passwords, so I'm unsure which is the one I want to lock. Thanks!

- I would like to use 2 modems (say 1 x ADSL2+ and 1 x Cable internet) with my Windows 2003 Server.
- I would like to aggregate them so that the bandwidth is shared between the users.
- I want it setup so that if 1 modem falls over then the other takes over
- I don't want a hardware solution
Can I do this in Windows Server 2003?
Any ideas???

Thanks guys!

Alright i use a linksys router (wireless network connection) and ive had it for about a year now. My internet connection has been fine until a couple days ago its been reasonably slow. Ive done everything from about:config tricks, disk cleanups, defragements, deleting cache/cookies, system TOTAL care scans no viruses or anything. I just cant seem to figure it out. My roommates have no problem at all. Could it be something to do with my IP Adress cause i had done some changing with it. I also play starcraft and right now 90% of all the games are 6 red bars. I get disconnected sometimes when im in a game for no reason. Please help.

Well, first of all, I'm currently connected to a network called 'NETGEAR.' I don't know if this is legal, but I haven't had any problems with it for a week. If anyone knows more about NETGEAR and whether or not it is legal, let me know, thanks.

I had enabled bridge mode in my router (with built-in ADSL modem). On my computer, I had set one of the broadband connection to be shared. I can log on to the internet by using my computer without any problem and can surf the websites, download files and more. But, the other computers which are connected to the same router cannot access the internet. Why? How to solve this problem?

Please provide the detailed answer.

Did a firmware through linksys.com. I can't connect the router now. Did call linksys for teck support and manage to work, they also said that if I want to change my passward, I can go through the cd setup and should be fine. I went through the cd setup and router didn't work again! Don't want to call teck support again. Is it possable that the router is currupted and need a new router?
