I have a 1701hg gateway and I'm supposed to be able to type either http://homeportal or http://gateway.2wire.net into my browser and be able to edit my router settings. I can do it from the computer that is using wireless, but I want to be able to use my ethernet connected pc.

The 1701hg has both wireless capability and 4 ethernet ports as well as usb.

Please help, thanks in advance.

Also, it's a DSL modem in addition to being a wireless and ethernet router. If that makes a difference.

Does your ethernet machine work on the internet? If it does just check the Gateway IP address and type that into your browser!
On Windows click start ----> Run ---> Type cmd into the command line. On the Black screen type ipconfig /all
There will be alot of network information returned -- look for the IP of the "GATEWAY" that is the IP for your 2Wire.
Just type that number into the address bar of your ethernet connected machine.

Many of the 2wires are located at this local address
http://192.168.1.254

You can also run the 2wire setup cd to get the http://gateway.2wire.net into your host file!

Hope that helps
Here is the 2wire manual for your router.
