Going to self-install roadrunner, need to know where the router gets plugged in?

Hi! We've had digital cable for a while and have decided to upgrade to RoadRunner internet. I'm going to self-install it but I need to know where the router will get plugged into.

On the back of the digital cable box, there's a port that says "DATA" but it's not for a CAT5. There's also a Time Warner box on the side of our house where the cable lines connect to. Will I need to run a cable from the cable box or the one on the side of my house?

I'm running it all the way upstairs, so, to be honest, I'm hoping it can be run from the side of the house. The tech has a plastic ring (flimsy) holding it shut though, so I don't know if it's anything we're allowed to touch.

First you will need to buy a cable modem. the cable plugs into the modem and then connect the modem to your router with your cat5 cable.
