Hi. Wireless G is much faster. G (54mbps) is also backwards compatible with the b spec (11mbps). The 'N' spec will be faster still but is not available yet. The wireless DSL modem should sent out a beacon that your B card should be able to find. Right click on the icon and select "View available...", then select and connect. Watch your range.

They are actually two different frequencies (though both comply to the 802.11x standard). Wireless N gives you a stronger signal and more stable (and faster) data transfer rates than the traditional g. However, if your computer has a G wireless adapter and you are using an N router, while you will still be able to connect, you will only connect using the G signal and not get the N benefits. Only if you are using both an N router and an N adapter will you get the benefits of the wireless N router.

RE:
What is the difference between Wireless G vs Wireless B?
Is there an advantage of one over the other? What other options are there? Also, how do I get a Wireless B to link to my dsl wireless router?

If the wireless is "N" only it will be spotty coverage at best. Now the second option b/g/n covers all the specs except "A" for WiFi PLUS has the ability to use bluetooth connections. These will normally allow for connection to Cell Phones, many Printers (dedicated without a wire), headsets, etc. and YES it is worth the $25. (If this is from Dell it is also an upgraded WiFi card.)

This site gives some great info about it broken down to easy to understand information. While the previous poster is correct, Speed is the main difference, there are some things to keep in mind about upgrading to 802.11 G.
Compatibility is a concern with 802.11 G. The nice thing about it is it is fully backwards compatible.

802.11g is 54mbps and 802.11b is 11mbps. They are NIOT compatible with each other unless the device says it supports both. I once brought a 802.11b laptop to a company for a meeting where they only had an 802.11g network and I had no net access for my visit.
