I dont want to sound naive. I just wanted a technological comparison. What technology does dialup use and what technology does DSL use. will 56k dialup be very far behind or will 64k DSL be far ahead. Can somebody tell me the reason y. Thanks

Well you are looking at analog technology in the 56k dial up. The modem converts the audio being received to a digital signal. You normally will only see about 33K maybe 36K real connection bandwidth with dial up. (The audio sent through the phone line has to be converted at both ends!)

A Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) is a true digital connection and will deliver 64K or real bandwidth. No audio conversion takes place just real digital signal end to end.

Those are noticeably different in real online use.

in simple terms dsl is dial up its just steady dsl slows the farther you are from a sub station im about 2 miles from one and mine is as fast as dialup give or take i was once 3 houses away and it was as fast as broadband
