Ok I am going to start this with my setup. I have 2 desktop computers, one which is hardwired to the modem, the other which is wireless. I also have a laptop. The router is 2 rooms away. 2 days ago on my wireless computer the internet stopped working. Since then I have updated the drivers, replaced the video card, ran a virus check, called linksys, netgear, and went to geek squad (where they ran a wireless test and it connected to their network just fine). I have also bought a new router which works just fine as well.

When I went home I took my laptop into my room with the wireless desktop and was able to connect to the wireless. This was working just fine 2 days ago, so please help me in figuring out why it isn't working now :(. So far I have deduced that it isn't the routers fault, or the network cards fault, so needless to say I am stumped....please help :(

Also, the day it stopped working I also installed a new replacement monitor...but I cant see why this would be the cause...

Yes in fact I just did delete all the files and cookies on my computer and also powercycled the router and modem. Still has the same message of "Cannot associate with the router".

.....I really don't understand how it can work one day and not the next ><

As for the DNS keys I am not really sure on how to do that. Is that the thing with the Command screen and typing in ipconfig?

Oh an btw, when I went to geek squad and they verified that my wireless was indeed working, they went into internet explorer and changed my LAN settings in order for it to connect to the internet.....don't really know what they did there...

How long you've had the Router can also be a factor in your problem. Usually when a router does what you're describing it usually means that it's actually updating itself. All internet service providers regularly send an update signal to their routers which can disrupt any ongoing internet activity or stop it altogether. If this happens it's usually best just to leave it alone for a day or two and not go on the internet until the update is finished since any internet activity from your end can prolong the process. When the update is finished the DSL light should be on constantly. If the light doesn't start flashing intermitantly again after twenty four hours you are safe to go. Also you need to be aware that BT is currently upgrading its infrastructure to accomadate digital television services and it's relatively new service BT Vision which was only launched late last year. Hope this helps.

have you tried unplugging the power from the router and the modem, waiting 30 seconds and then plugging them back in?

But you have to unplug them from the actual router and modem and then from the actual outlet too.

Then wait a bit, it needs to reset and then it should work.

Then if that doesn't work, try going to Tools and then Internet Options and then Delete Cookie and Delete Files (Includin offline content).

This sometimes helps too.

That's all I know.
