If you are on a network yes it is possible. There a dozens of programs that will allow a user to view in realtime what your doing. However if you just have your laptop plugged in to your work network no they don't with out some hacking to do and most admins have more important things to do then play those games (well most of us anyway). But on a corporate network they have the right, although most have a policy not to "spy" unless there is a reason to do so.
How to stop it? Unless your a system admin with elevated privileges you cant really and there or programs that can run with out you knowing it, unless your familiar with the program.

It depends on the people. If you mean if it is possible for the System Admin. to see what is on your screen - the answer is yes. If you mean other users - the answer is no.
Most, if not all companies and schools have computer contracts that employees or students sign - it is not your RIGHT to use their network - it is a privilege.

No, they cant see your screen unless you have software such as vnc. Even then you would have a weird icon in your systems tray that would let you know when people are logged in and watching you. You can check your programs list and see if there is anything suspicious you don't recognize.

As per you Question,
in order to view your sceen in other computer, first off, you have to accept the invitation from them,
so when ever you get an pop up screen to accept the invitation, please ignore.
Or if they have installed the "VNC software, they have an access to view your screen with your permission.
Tips:
1. if you have an access to change the IP Address, try.
2. Don't accept the invitation in Net meeting
3. find the VNC software in your computer & try to remove.
if hope this will help for you

It depends on what software is installed. If on a corporate network, a simple program like netmeeting is enough.
Do a search in the "installed programmes" list, for software you don't know, and do a search for it on the net.
