I can get in on another computer in the house. I am working off a laptop connected to our home network. I am running anti-spyware, anti-virus, and all that. I tried it shutting down those programs. When I log in it just brings me back to the log in screen. No errors. Nothing wrong with my id or password. I am allowing all cookies. I cleared my cache and cookies. Please, this is a real question. Thanks!

In the bottom right of the screen when I move the cursor over the tiny icon it says as follows;

"Local Area Network
Speed; 100 Mbps
Status connected"

However, if I'm downloading a file or uploading a video on Youtube it downloads at a speed of 15 kilobytes per second. Is this normal or am I missing out on something?

I already have cablespeed right know and I really like it, but I am getting ready to move in a few weeks and where I am moving to it already has cable so there is no need for me to sign up for a cable bill. So I was wondering if DSL is just as fast as the cablespeed than I might as well go with DSL instead of making another cable account at the same address. So my question is which one is better/ faster, please help?

In my office at work, we have a network with a high speed internet connection. However, sometimes we need to transmit data over a dialup connection. This only happens a few times a day, but sometimes different people are trying to use the dialup connection at the same time and we only have one line dedicated to a dialup connection.

So my question is, is there a way to share that dialup connection with different computers so they don't have to wait for the other user to disconnect?

I just got a new laptop, and I guess it's got a pretty good wirlesscard. I'm getting free internet connection called "linksys." Is this a good thing?
Should I used other people's wireless connection?
Is it illegal?
I googled "linksys" and turned out "linksys" is for businesses. Would people get fired if download "stuff" using the network?
Am I stealing from other people?
Also, am I taking away their bandwidth?

In my network at work I want to have wireless but our property is larger than one access point can handle. With multiple access points is there any downside to giving them all the same SSID so the computer system picks them up when they come into range? In the beginning they all had different SSIDs but we are using Windows 2000 and it doesnt automatically hop wireless networks like Windows XP. If I give the WAPs all the same SSID once Windows 2000 connects to one of them it will connect to all of them, correct?

For ex. When I buy a network interface card
for setting up a star ethernet network...
and I connect everything to the switch/ install my drivers so the adapter will work

but then why do I have to configure it with
the network connection wizard b4 I flip the on switch???? Why is this?
What is the operating system doing that makes this essential? Is it just adding it to the registry (I'm on XP) ..then what is the purpose of the registry exactly?

My pc(XP Prof.) is behind a netgear WGT624 router. The pc's IP is Nat'ed. The vpn client I'm using is Check Point vpn-1 Secure Client. I know for sure it's the router blocking but don't where to allow it. When I connect my pc directly to the DSL modem, it works perfectly.
I'm not sure what all these IPSec, PPTP, etc means. Can someone help?

I have a Netgear wireless router with the blue lights circling on the top. Usually there's just one or two lights constant (we have one computer using the wireless connection), but at times there are three constant lights. My computer is really slow too. Is someone stealing my connection? How do I found out who it is?

I just bought a new lap top, and it has a wireless card that can find nearby networks. My cousin's lap top can find a really good connection with a 5 bar. But when I try to connect to a network, its [says cannot find a network], but in my cousin's computer it has a huge list of connections. Do I have to register or something. Also I live nearby a unsecrured internet access, and I would really like to use that unsecrured internet, can someone please help me clearly and easly.
