I am using my cell phone as a dial up modem. As I move around my house, my laptop loses reception from my wireless router, so I connect to the internet with my cell phone as a modem. However, when both are connected, I have to disconnect my dial up connection because when both wi-fi and dial up connected, the internet is only as fast as the dial up.

I am usaully able to connect to the internet through my wireless router, but whenever i restart my computer, I cant connect for a few hours, and now i cant connect at all. I did a ping test, so I konw the card is good.
If it helps, when i set up a network connection on computer 1, it displays my wireless card. but when i try to set it up on computer 2, it only displays some LAN thing i can never connect too. and it says under the description "connected, firewalled"
if the firewalls the problem, how do I un firewall it? ive tryed taking off my firewall, but it doesnt do anything.

When I talked to someone on the phone over my connectivity issues, I think they said that one was built in it. I'm not sure though. It is the SB4100 Cable Modem version.

I have an older laptop with wireless capabilities - but it has Win98...

My DSL is connected in my bedroom and for some reason won't work in the other jacks in my house. Is there either a way to just get a really long cord so I can work in my living room, or a way I can set up wireless internet for under 50.00?

I would probably need a router - and the card to plug into my laptop.

Dont remember where I put the manual
modem crapped out and they sent me another

As I recall from last time, the encryptation I want is WEP shared; 64 bits
there are 3 numbers on the sticker on the back of the 3wire
1st is P/n
2nd is a 10 digit number
3rd is a 4ditit - 6 digit - 3digit
I've tried the 2nd nbr - 10 numeric digits - as the encrypation key
The result is that the settings - network display says limited or no connectivity

the adap[ter is a 3com pcmicia card

Its says Cannot Complete the Network Setup Wizard. The wizard, you must first install and configure your network cards...no idea how to do this. Then, when you are finished installing your network hardware, run this wizard again. DRIVING ME INSANE.

The lights are all on, but for some reason my computer is not detecting the router!! I went through the troubleshooting procedure over 15 times and STILL wont detect it. It says to call Netgear. Any help? Thanks!!

Hi, my notebook runs Windows XP. The ipconfig shows that its ip address is 192.168.1.6, the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0, the default gateway is 192.168.1.1. To my understanding, the 192.168.*.* address is private ip address, not the real address on the internet. So how to find the real ip address on my notebook? I need it to open an XWindow from a remote computer. By the way, I can connect to the internet through this wireless network interface.

I believe in sharing wifi with anyone, but would like to keep the one computer I use for my finances safe from intruders. I would also like to limit the amount a bandwidth I am sharing with strangers while allowing unlimited access to known computers. I have a WRT54G v4 wireless router. The computer I do my finances on is running Vista Ultimate and is connected to the router via CAT 5. All others connected via wifi. Is there a hacked firmware for the router which could accomplish this? Security for the one computer, and sharing my wifi are the two most important concerns. I would also prefer a solution that is both free, and doesn't limit who can share my wifi. (NO FON!)

We have 4 computers in our house. Three are currently wireless, one hardwired. We have one printer that is connected with wires to one of the wireless computers. Right now, we can only print using that one computer. So if we are working on one of the other computers, we have to save the file and email it to ourselves and go open it on the "printing" computer. How can I print from the other three computers? Is there a way to link it all now or do I need to go buy some more equipment for the printer? Or do only certain printers have these capabilities?

I have a cable internet connection going from the modem into a wireless router and out to an XP computer. A laptop picks up the wireless network, but i also have a 98SE computer two floors above the router which is not wireless compatible. The router has four ports for ethernet cables. The 98SE computer has no ethernet port so would it work if i ran an ethernet cable up two floors into a ethernet --> USB 2.0 converter then into the computer's USB port? If not, are there other ways i can get internet acess on the 98SE computer?

I have an integrated network adapter on my motherboard. One day, it said "network cable unplugged." I checked the connection, no lights were on, I checked the connection and it was fine. I pluged the exact same cable into my laptop and recignized the connection right away. So then I disabled the onboard network adapter, installed a NIC and it worked for a few days, and the same thing happened, said no network cable installed, no lights, etc. Windows is still recignizing both adapters, I tried re-installing the drivers, tested cable, tried a diff cable, tested router and nothing is working. Also tried plugging the NIC in another PCI slot and same results. Any ideas out there?
