You are right about not needing a wireless adaptor on your main pc. All you need is an ethernet cable to connect the main pc to the wireless router. Take another ethernet cable & then connect the wireless router to the DSL modem (both usually have these connections marked or shown on manual) then all you need to do is connect your DSL modem to a DSL line splitter that plugs into your phone jack. The line splitter has 2 jacks one for DSL connection & one for your phone so you can talk on the phone while you surf.

Let's start from the beggining.
Most Internet Service Providers furnish there clients with a MODEM, irreguardless if they are DSL, or Cable.
Next if you intend to connect Wireless, your computer must have a Wireless Card, and any computer will need to have a wireless cards.
Next, You need a Multiport Wireless ROUTER.
This will enable you to connect multiple computers simultaniously both hard wired with Ethernet Cable, and Wireless with wireless cards.
Thats about all you need, accept be sure to read the Instructions and the Step by Step Booklet or Phamplet that comes with your choice of router.

Just hook the modem to the router, also most wireless routers have a few places to connect a computer directly with a wire (dont go cheap on the router or it will cause headaches) I have a linksys router and I rarely have any problems with it. DONT BUY BELKIN!

To connect wirelessly a computer has to have a compatable wireless card. Also make sure you put a password on your wireless router even if you arent using a wireless connection with it or anybody can stand outside your house, or next door even, and use your internet without you knowing.

You would be better off buying a wirless modem. You can connect your PC right into that then run all your secondary units off the wireless. check cnet.com for reviews to help make your decision.
