My computer (that has always connected to the wireless network has suddenly stopped connecting. It sees the network, but won't take an IP address from it. It's not the network as two other systems are connecting without an issue. Nothing was changed. Any ideas?

Why is it that my DSL modem works on some phone jacks, and receives the feed, but not on others. It's really annoying because it works on the upstairs jacks, but none of the downstairs ones. Strangely enough, all the phone jacks have a dial tone, and work with any phone, but when I connect the DSL modem and router, my modem will not detect any DSL feed.

How do I get DSL to run through these jacks? What da' problem is?

Can someone explain to me how a wireless router works? I have a dinosour for a computer and I know it does not have a wireless card to go wireless. I just bought a laptop and I want to hook it up to the internet wireless and leave my computer hooked up as is. How does that exactly work? Do I run my external modem through the router and still be able to run my dinosour computer?

My Dl-624 DLink Router needs to connect to this:

Connection Status:

SSID(Network Name): OI-WiFi-98

Address Type: Assigned by DHCP

IP Address: 172.16.98.247

Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

Default Gateway: 172.16.98.1

DNS Server: 206.137.30.2

MAC Address: 00-15-6D-52-05-7A

This is the ISP's website: www.oiwifi.com
I think my answer to this question is: Buying a Netgear wireless bridge router or some wireless router that has an access point.

My ibook is connected to a Motorola cable modem via Ethernet. I can connect to the web for a few minutes, then nothing. I unplug the Ethernet cable from my ibook and replug it. I can connect again for a few minutes, then nothing. Repeat unplug/plug. Annoyed. ISP doesn't know. The modem seems to work fine through the whole process. Looks like it is an ibook and Ethernet problem. The problem surfaced after about 4 days of perfect functioning. Unbelievable.

I have a dynamic Ip...This link below:
http://www.trap17.com/index.php/changing-dynamic-ip_t9198.html

Has very clear instructions on how to change my IP. I tried it, but it didn't work, I think its because on one step, when it said that the internet diconnected, instead I got a message saying my internet has limited or no connectivity, and it says something about a local area connection, and I have a wireless network connection. Check out the link, its really short and quick, and can you tell me what I'm doing wrong or what else I can do.

Please I've been trying to change my ip address since last year, and I couldn't figure out how, I need help!!
