Yes, if you want to get a career in networking. Cisco is one of the leading network related firms and being Certified by them dramatically increases your chances of landing a good Network Admin or Network Engineer job.

depends on what you want to do, . certs are definetly not a requirement if you have advanced degrees and plenty of time in networking.

also remember that most of the cisco certs have to be renewed every 3 years so it's not like you can get the cert and forget everything after taking the test.
