DOn't listen to him about trashing your MAC. Mac's are the best in virus protection and such. Call GEEK Squad. They are based here in Cali but are insane when is comes to computers. Here's the number, 1-800-433-5778 it will cost about 150 bucks for a call if you take it in or about 180 for a house call. But they WILL fix your problem! or just go to their website and see what you can do without calling them.

You are open minded and want to learn. The same can't be said for those who say "That brand I didn't buy is trash." Makes me wonder if they spend all their time looking for questions about subjects they don't understand...
Have you used a Windows computer? If you are comfortable with computers in general, you can save a ton of money by just learning the specific details of how the Mac OS is different from Windows. If you have never used any computer before, you need to find a community college with a beginning course. Even if it is Windows based, the course will get you started in understanding computer use and then you can easily translate your skill onto the Mac. For example, in Windows, to shutdown the computer, you click on "Start" and then select "Shutdown" or "Turn off" depending on the system, and then another step is to click on the "Shutdown" logo. On any Mac, you click on the Apple logo and select "Shutdown". In this way you see how many ideas in Mac system are quite intuitive which is how most experts describe Mac.
It's true that most kids can learn to use a Mac system in a couple of hours but adults sometimes need a bit more practice since we tend to get stuck in our old ways of thinking. Can you connect to the Internet? If not, call 1-800-myapple and get help (free during the first 90 days that you own your new Mac). After you get connected to the Internet, try the links below for some online training that is self-paced and lets you choose the topic. After you spend a few hours with the online training, you will be quite comfortable with your Mac.

The best solution is not to have someone come out to you, but to go to your nearest Apple Store and purchase a service called ProCare. For $99 a year, you can have one hour per week, scheduled at your convenience, for you to sit down one on one with someone at the store to show you how to use your computer

The reason you can't use your mac is because they are trash and that is where they belong so I recomend throwing it away and then going out and buying a nice pc.
