I have a wireless modem router in my living room. This replaced my old ADSL (non wireless) modem and a seperate wireless router.

Upstairs I have a computer with a non-wireless ethernet port.

Can I plug my old wireless router into the ethernet port on my upstairs computer to give it a wireless connection? This would be intead of the alternative of buying a new wireless network card.

I would like to use the router as I could then connect up a PS2 to my internet connection.

I understand I need a "crossover" and not a "Patch" cable, but how do I configure the software (ie windows) on each machine? I have Windows XP (Home, SP2) on the PC and Windows XP (Tablet Edition) on the Laptop. I've also got Broadband internet thru a USB modem to the PC which I'd like to share with the laptop, but that could be a side issue, as I'll upgrade with a wireless hub later in the year.

We're running Small Business Server 2003. Other User is on holiday. I could change his password, log in as him, and give myself permissions that way, but that would mean getting his new password to him - a pain.

Can I do it with the SBS console?

Thanks

Normally I use a wireless router (LinkSys) but while staying at a friend's I installed his Arris Touchstone driver on my laptop in order to be able to use his cable internet (via USB). Now back at my home, the browsers on my laptop can't connect to Internet via the wireless.

I use Windows XP with sp2, my default browser is Firefox 1.5.0.9, but IE6 won't connect either. But Skype does connect, and my wireless managing software also shows my regular network, though with a different name: Belkin. I use a LinkSys broadband router. On my other laptop (without Arris software) browsers are still working fine.

I thought of uninstalling the Arris software but when I search I find nothing with Arris, Touchstone or Belkin. Where would the software be? in the Program Files folder?

I live in Canberra, about 6 months ago I requested a Internet company to give me high speed Broadband conection. They initially told me I should get a land line through telestra and then they will set up my connection after about 2-3 weeks they still could not connect the phone to the internet so I told them I do not want the connection anymore, i.e their service but inspite of this they are still sending me invoice without any shame and asking me for money in a way that there is a connection while that has never exist...what should I do?

this is the problem. I coudnt connect to the internet once i get e notebook. The way for it is to search for e wireless network right? I did but it says wireless connection- you might be able to aess the internet or other network resources. this problem occured because the network did not assign a network address to the computer. and i am unable to get into internet. And if i tried this way then type ipconfig /release

then type ipconfig /renew during ipconfig/release it shows NO opertation can be performed on Local Area Connectioon While it has its media disconnected.

Please make the explanation simpler.
