We're running Small Business Server 2003. Other User is on holiday. I could change his password, log in as him, and give myself permissions that way, but that would mean getting his new password to him - a pain.

Can I do it with the SBS console?

Thanks

If you log in as the other user, go into their Outlook and right-click their inbox and go to Properties. Click on the "Permissions" tab . Click "Add" and then choose your username from the list that appears. Change the "Permission Level" to "Owner" and tick all of the boxes below.
Now, log out of Outlook and Windows and log in as your own name and password. Click on "File" and "Open" and choose "Other User's Folder". Click on "Name" and choose your other user's name (usually defaults to "Inbox") - it if doesn't, choose Inbox and it should open that users inbox for you.
Nice thing about this is unless someone knows how to do this, they wouldn't have a clue that they are sharing their inbox with you. I'm a boss too :):):):) You can also do this with contacts and diaries, but if you plan on using multiple diaries, I suggest you you the busy/schedule web scenario.

Hope this helps
Steve

you can do it in the manner you suggested but you are breaking the data protection act. Fine if you think they will be cool with it but their electronic mail (even if its presented by your buisness for your buisnesses use ) has they same sort of legal status as if you started opening their personal mail (ie letters). If he put a complaint in you could be subect to a fine and or a sentance. Your descision.

good luck

If he wanted you to have access you would already know the password. Best contacting the guy before hacking his account.

Then I open it and see if that is someone i love...no matter if that is I write them....If that isn't any longer I nevertheless write them. yet somewhat of writing (nicely on the computing device you do not "write" do you? No, you variety) Typing truly one of my chuffed little emails, I write truly one of my underhanded Bitchy emails. i imagine I inherited this skill from my grandfather ( the perfect at indignant underhanded yet obtrusive emails). BullShitzins...

Wait for them to come back, or if it is important phone them and ask for their password - if it really is for "work"...
