I have satelitte internet since no other type of high-speed service is available. I want to set up a wireless network so I can connect to the internet with my laptop. Can anyone tell me what equipment I need to do this?

I have been told that the satellite signal is transmitted wirelessly from the satellite receiver to a card in my PC. The satellite receiver gets the signal through coax from the dish. If it is transmitted to my PC wirelessly, how can I set up a wireless network?

Simple - buy a wireless access point.

No problem. Your satellite internet is entering your home somehow. There will be a standard ethernet connection from that point, probably directly to your computer right now? Purchase a wireless router (an access point will give you headaches). Plug the internet into the WAN side of the router. Configure the WAN side just as you've configured your computer right now (I assume it's dynamic, but if not, manually enter the IP information). Configure the LAN side of the router as you would for any standard wireless router. Poof! You're done.
