this is the problem. I coudnt connect to the internet once i get e notebook. The way for it is to search for e wireless network right? I did but it says wireless connection- you might be able to aess the internet or other network resources. this problem occured because the network did not assign a network address to the computer. and i am unable to get into internet. And if i tried this way then type ipconfig /release

then type ipconfig /renew during ipconfig/release it shows NO opertation can be performed on Local Area Connectioon While it has its media disconnected.

Please make the explanation simpler.

To make it simple, you bought a PC and didnt pay for internet usage! You need to find an ISP (internet service provider)! You dont just by a PC and get free internet!

When you get that message, it usually means that your laptop's wireless NIC can see the wireless network, but will not receive an IP address assignment. It might be one of two things:

1) You haven't entered the right WEP or WPA key if the wireless network is secure, the SSID is wrong (make sure upper and lowercase match), you have the wrong key selected (1-4), etc.

2) The wireless configuration on the router is set to a maximum number of IP address assignments, and all of them are currently in use.

The Local Area Connection represents the link between you and your DSL modem. The WAN Miniport (PPPoE) one represents dialling the DSL connection to your ISP. You need both connections, but the Local Area Connection one doesn't need any particular IP address.

The limited or no connectivity message pops up when a connection is set to use DHCP to get an address, but there's no DHCP server (like in your case, when there's just a modem plugged in).

What you need to do is right-click | Properties on the Local Area Connection icon, double-click TCP/IP, and manually set an IP address (the exact setting is irrelevant, as long as it's a private IP address). Using an IP address of 192.168.1.1 and subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 should do. Leave the default gateway blank.
