my laptop obviously still has a connection from the wireless network. otherwise i couldn't ask here. when i first set it up, it had an internet connection, then, after I added a bunch of extra features, i somehow lost the ability to access websites. my pc (server) is behind a router which is connected to my cable modem. everything is set to be automatic. but i tried to assign a static ip address for my server. I beleive i did this correctly on my router and on my pc. for clarification, my internal ip is 192.168.0.100. and subnet mask is 255.255.255.0. default gateway is the ip of the router as seen by my network. 192.168.0.1. and my DNS is the same as my router ip. my connection manager shows connectivity, but when i ping my router i get nothing. I can't seem to figure this out.
I also set up a domain. When i log into my computer, i log into a domain that i created. this is probably where the problem is. I am unclear about how DNS works. any info will be appreciated. thanks

Does anyone know why??????? Am I embarasing someone???

I do not offer my own opinion but suggest that the person I am replying to does a search re the problems and issues with windows vista.

I thought this site was about helping people get the best information.
Perhaps I was wrong and Yahoo does not want to offend Microsoft.

I have had a Linksys Wireless-G USB Network Adapter (Model Number: WUSB54G) for about a year with a matching router. The router recently broke and we had to buy a new one and it works fine. But the adapter says "You are connected to the access point, but the Internet cannot be found". My labtop works fine but that computer cannot connect. The signal strength is 100% and so is the link quality. The computer runs Windows ME and is about five years old.

I'm on a wireless connection, and although I am still in my apartment, my connection keeps going from good to low and even cutting out quite frequently. Any ideas on how to fix this? I would be most appreciative. Please let me know if you need more information.

I had previously managed to successfully connect my laptop to the wireless network on my main computer so I know that the connection worked. However, a couple of days ago, the connection just cut out and the wireless Network Adapter on my laptop wont connect to the network.

My laptop recognises the signal and it shows the signal strength to be excellent so I know that the laptop can pick up the signal from the router. In fact it repeatedly tells me that it can detect the network and it shows up in the list but when I try to connect, it says

'Windows is unable to connect to the selected network. The network may no longer be in range. Please refresh the list of available networks and try again'

The actual router shows up as working fine as well so I dont think its a problem with the main PC.

Do I need to reinstall software, enter the right codes or just kick it?

Well, to start, the reason I am doing this is for my ps3. The signal I am getting from my original Westell Versalink modem is too weak, so I decided to use the Linksys WRT54GS to get a stronger signal. Well, I followed the steps on the CD fine and hooked it up perfectly, but, when it came to internet connection (I have Verizon DSL), I chose DHCP Automatic. I entered all of the info, but when the linksys attempted to connect to the internet, it failed. I think it might be a problem with the Default Gateway of IP address, but I'm not certain of it. Please help me, I have been going at this for hours and I need some serious help. Thanks in advance.

I want to know how to remove/disable connections set by my Nintendo Wi Fi USB Connector. I uninstalled it recently and when it trys to set up a connection it fails, but it adds them to it, since I see the numbers LAN Connection 4, 5, 6, ect. But when I plug my USB Connector in the LAN Connections aren't there. Can anyone help me finding them so I can remove/disable them?
