I am having a problem with two laptops on my wireless network. They each display a "limited or no connectivity" message although the signal strength is always fine. The router is working because I have a desktop that connects directly to it, and the Internet works for it. I have tried releasing and renewing the IP address on the laptops, but it always says it can't renew it. The drivers are all up to date for the Wireless card, so it's not that either. I have tried pinging and powercycling to no avail. In command prompt, it also says that it could not connect to the DHCP server. I do not know how to fix this and have searched for answers but cannot find any. I would appreciate any help that anyone can give me before I resort to asking Dell or Comcast for help, as they aren't the nicest people in the world to deal with.

My cable internet provider is Cox.
I am getting internet service interruptions, and I am wondering if it might be because I don't have a PC directly connected to the modem or the router.
I have my Motorola cable modem in the garage connected to Linksys router. My PC and notebooks are all on wireless network sharing internet connection, printing and so on.

Everything worked fine until two days ago where I started getting a lot of service interruptions. Local network is fine. It's just Cox internet that cuts off.

- My question is do I need to have a PC directly connected to the modem or the router for Cox Internet to work?
- Do I need to change any settings on the router?

TV signals are fine and when I called Cox they did not see any problems with the modem or signal.

Thanks

I've run Vista upgrade advisor and my pc will run vista. My modem came up as unrecognised though. The advice was to download vista capable drivers from the manufacturers website. Having visited Scientific Atlanta website there is no mention of vista. I don't want to upgrade to vista and find i can't get online. The scan also failed to recognise my Creative Webcam, and my mobile Smartphone. Will these work or will i have to chase new drivers for these as well.

Ok, i'm not real good with this kind of stuff so i'm gunna try to get this to make sense. Me and my family are one a wireless network with i linksys router. I want to make it so i can use the cord connected to the router and plug it into my computer and be directly connected to the router. When i plug it into the back it says im connected but im not getting internet. So i disabled the wireless internet and still nothing. So then i used the "repair" but it says cannot clear the DNS cache or something like that... so if anyone could help that would be great

Thanks in advance

We have a Netgear Router MR814 v2 which has been working fine with our 3 home pc's for over a year now. We have just lost the wireless connection with the third pc which has a Belkin802.11g 54Mbps usb. Its just not picking up the Netgear at all. I have checked all cables etc., unplugged everything and rebooted the Netgear router to no avail.

It shows that the Belkin is connected and good signal strength, but still can't connect to internet. I went into the troubleshooter for networking and it told me to configure the TCP settings which I did under "run" then command.
It then says no operation can be performed on Local Area Connection while its had its media state disconnected.

Now it shows connection is set to 6?? instead of what it was before which I can't remember!(sorry am confused as to what this means).

I have gone into the Netgear Smart Wizard and in "attached devices" under Router Status it now doesn't show the third pc at all, only the other two. This is weird!

I have a friend who owns some websites, one is an info site and two are forums and he got a message from the host that it's getting too big in CPU usage and there is a problem that it could be shut down. He has been working very hard on these sites and has been paying for them out of his own pocket but he really can't afford to pay any more then he already is. Many people use his sites and it would be very disappointing if it was to go down.
He was told by the hosts that if they moved to a RootDS Server they would be able to keep the sites but the problem is that the cost would be much more.
I was just wondering if any of you had any solutions or any suggestions that would help out with the amount of usuage being used. People are already willing to donate some, but I don't think that will be enough.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

My home office is in a separate building 100 feet from the house. Phone lines/DSL are in both buildings. Have router, but not really practical stringing ethernet wire through the trees and under the lawn mowers. Wireless? The main computer does not have any more IDE slots. I will have to pull something out to put a wirless card in. Question: Can two computers share one DSL line without using routers or wireless?

I have a D-Link WBR-1310 router..

Before I switched ISPs, both of my ethernet and wireless connections worked.

However, when I switched ISPs to Rogers, only the ethernet worked and my computer was unable to detect the wireless network. I talked to three D-Link customer service agents via phone, was on the line for over 1 hour and 30 minutes, did everything they told me to do, tried contacting ISP, but they simply could not find out what was wrong. Everything is properly connected, I tried everything including power cycle, change all of the wireless settings, tried using all 11 channels, tried every kind of security setting, changing SSID, etc. but the computer was still unable to detect my wireless network. The computer CAN detect and connect to my neighbour's network though,

PLEASE HELP! I have used wireless internet for nearly 2 years and this has never happened to me before. I am puzzled as to why it would never work especially if everything is connected.
