Ok, i'm not real good with this kind of stuff so i'm gunna try to get this to make sense. Me and my family are one a wireless network with i linksys router. I want to make it so i can use the cord connected to the router and plug it into my computer and be directly connected to the router. When i plug it into the back it says im connected but im not getting internet. So i disabled the wireless internet and still nothing. So then i used the "repair" but it says cannot clear the DNS cache or something like that... so if anyone could help that would be great

Thanks in advance

well u have to have some kind of internet connection attacked to the router

if you plug only your computer to the router then you have a LAN
local area connection
you would have to plug a cable from either the phone into the router or a cable from a modem into the router for your computer to ave internet

I would suggest running the Internet Wizard.
In Windows XP It is located by clicking "Start," then "Control Panel" then select " network and interenet connections" then select " setup or change your internet connection" then click on Setup under the Connections tab.
Be sure to click on that you are connecting through a LAN when you follow the Wizard. Be sure your DSL or Cable modem is plugged into the Modem port on the back of the Router first !

You just have to refresh the router, modem and computer.

That way it will discover your IP address.

Doing this you will have to set up the router for wireless again so find the manual for that one. ;-)

First to try is turn off your computer, modem and router for 15 to 30 seconds and then restart them all. if that doesn't work

Turn off your computer and then your modem. On the back of the router is a reset button (you need a paper clip to get to it) Hold down the reset button for 10-15 seconds, then turn everything back on staring with the modem, router, then computer.

You will know need to follow the instructions to set-up wireless again, however a direct connection should work without configuring the router.
