ok i have windows me at home i know sad, but i downloaded the remote access thingy and it connected me right to work...i am an acct and without this i will have to move into the office til april...i know the server at work is fine as everyone else is getting in just fine...i have roadrunner (cable) and seems the internet has to work at it sometimes as well...i may have somethign configured wrong...help pllllllllllllllzzzzzzzzz it has also started telling me soemthing bout activex not on...thanks for any advice!!!!!!!

set your security settings to default (internet options) and be sure that in the advanced tab the active x controls are active, you can also go into the tabs and see if there is an activex control that has been disabled....also you may need to configure your connection to use a specific ip in order to access the work server, ask the it guy at work if they need a specific ip range to access the server, if they do then you can set the ip in the connections area....right click on your lan connection, go to properties, then highlight the tcp/ip connection, then properties button...from here you can enter the ip address that you need to use....the cable modem is set to go to the roadrunner server and that may be why you aren't connecting.....another option is to create another connection with the assigned ip from work so when you need to access it you just enable that one and disable the other.
